How to Compare Contractor Quotes
It's tempting to line up a few quotes side by side and pick the lowest number. But the total price only tells part of the story — the real question is whether two quotes are actually pricing the same scope of work.
Check what's actually included
A lower quote sometimes leaves out something a higher quote includes — permit fees, cleanup, a specific material grade, or a warranty. Before comparing numbers, compare scopes: what exactly is each quote promising to deliver?
If a quote is vague about materials or doesn't break down what's covered, it's worth asking for specifics before you decide anything.
Ask about timeline, not just price
A significantly faster or slower timeline than others you've heard can be a signal worth asking about — it might mean a different crew size, a different process, or simply a different current workload. None of those are automatically bad, but they're worth understanding.
One clear estimate beats several confusing ones
This is part of why we structure things the way we do: instead of you juggling multiple quotes with different formats and assumptions, we collect pricing on your behalf and present it as one clear, all-in estimate — so the comparison work is already done for you.
